About us:

Colonial Hills United Methodist Church is a member church of the Rio Texas Conference

and is located near the Medical Center in San Antonio, Tx. We are looking for a new

Director of Youth Ministries to help us in our mission to become Christ-centered

disciples with spirit empowered faith and to show God's healing and transforming love

and grace to all people.

Purpose:

To lead a program that nurtures relationships between youth, church, and Christ.

To guide 6'h - 12'h grade students in faith and mentor them as they learn to walk with

God. To help youth explore and develop their God-given gifts and talents as leaders,

servants, encouragers, and disciples. To promote a safe, inviting, Christian environment

where youth can live, work, grow, learn, and love.

General:

The Director of Youth ministries is a full-time position under the supervision of

the Senior Pastor. Salary is commensurate with experience. Each week, the Director of

Youth Ministries should both plan. coordinate, and implement various programs for

Youth Ministry, as well as connect with youth and their parents. The Director of Youth

Ministries will work with Church Staff, Church leadership, adult volunteers and

especially youth and their families to evaluate, develop, and coordinate various Youth

Ministry programs that help promote spiritually mature, well-rounded Christian disciples.

Qualifications:

Must exhibit deep spiritual maturity and lifestyle consistent with Christ's

teachings.

Prefer a minimum of a bachelor's degree and/or 3 years Youth Ministry related

work experience.

Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills and appropriate use

of social media.

Must be comfortable discussing difficult theological and life situation topics,

as such discussions may occur.

Must work well as part of a staff team; coordinate volunteers; delegate,

empower, and hold youth accountable.

Proficiency using computers, including word processors, spreadsheets, and

social media.

CPR and first aid training required, must remain current, renewal costs may be

reimbursed by church.

Must pass a criminal history background check.

Completion of Safe Gatherings training within 30 days of employment is

required.

Responsibilities:

Plan, coordinate, and implement Youth Ministry activities that provide

impactful, engaging, and meaningful opportunities for youth as they grow in

Christ, including weekly gatherings, summer camps, special events, and other

such programs.

Create opportunities for youth to participate in and lead meaningful worship

experiences, including occasional youth led Sunday services.

Attend UMYF, youth retreats, lock-ins, and mission projects as leader and

mentor.

Meet in person, as able, with youth and parent and adult volunteers to discern

individual needs in order to improve Christian growth and development

opportunities.

Reach out to youth where they are, at school and in the community.

Brainstorm with Youth Council to develop a unique vision for youth Ministry

and work together to plan and implement programs.

Recruit and train adult leadership for youth ministry.

Collaborate and communicate regularly with Senior Pastor to evaluate and

develop programs, and to coordinate calendars.

Maintain up-to-date communication with church leadership on current

activities and future vision for Youth Minishy.

Ensure compliance with Safe Gatherings and Church Safety policies and

practices in all youth activities.

Attend weekly staff meetings.

Attend and participate in Sunday Worship.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
